The company is run and staffed by people who care about their environment. At every step of the process we try to be as environmentally aware as we possibly can. For those of you who need to be reassured or who don't know us as individuals here are some of the things that we do or have done:
- In 2020, we won 'Green Supplier of the Year' at the Event Production Awards. This award was for pioneering a scheme using reusable cups that generated income to offset the carbon emissions for all the audience, artists, bars, traders, production and energy use at 2000 Trees, ArcTanGent and End of the Road Festivals.
- In 2019, we recorded all our carbon emissions and are now offically a Climate Postive / Carbon Negative company.
- In 2017, we stopped using plastic straws on all our bars.
- In 2014, we started washing all the cups onsite and redistributing hard plastic cups to all the bars to reduce the use of recyclable plastic cups. We also did this back in the day, 2007 at the Big Chill.
- In 2011, we introduced Pint Posts, which encouraged customers to stack their used cups on posts, creating neat stacks of used cups that made it easier for the clean up crew to process the recycling.
- In 2009, we researched and used, what we still believe to be, the most environmentally sound form of recyclable plastic cup for festival use which was high grade non shatter PET & combining it with a 5p cup return scheme. These PET cups have a recycle plastic value and so can be reused in other products from waste. Ther are however plastic... which is very damaging to the world. One day we hope for CE stamped paper cups.
- All our staff are briefed in environmental reuse and recycling methods for each event before they start work. We create active recycle points for each type of rubbish behind each bar and make sure our crew employ 'best practice' across site.
- We work with local suppliers wherever possible - each event has a local ale and cider list because it's environmentally sound, good for local business and makes sense for us and the customers.
- As a matter of course we will always ensure that our bar areas are left clear of all rubbish and traces of our presence before we leave.
